Characteristics of an American Staffordshire Terrier

Dog Breed Info recommends that if you have an American Staffordshire Terrier, to start socializing the puppy as early as possible.  Some may be aggressive toward other dogs, but early and thorough socialization will help a great deal with this.  Expose them to a variety of situations, people, sights, sounds, so they become familiar with more people and dogs outside of their family.

Exercise needs of a Staffordshire Terrier

This is a dog that needs his exercise.   Make sure he has that so he is easier to handle.  Take him for a long walk, or take him jogging with you, or running.  This breed actually prefers warmer climates.  They would be good with dog sports like agility, obedience, and tracking because they are athletically built and intelligent.  And while you are training them, you might discover that there is a clownish nature in them, because they might put a twist in your training program.  So make your training fun and interesting for them.  Be patient in training them.  Be kind, and be firm.  This is a dog that wants a job, and be part of the family.  He is very people-oriented.  You can read more about this breed here.  Do you have experience with an American Staffordshire Terrier?  Share your comment at the bottom of this page.
