This is a video of a loving family welcoming a Goldendoodle puppy home. So much tenderness in this video! Watch this exciting day for the family, as they pick up their new puppy, making him feel safe and welcome, and introducing him to the family dog.

This video is very well done, starting with family dog, Charlee, answering to the question “Are you excited about your brother?” Then Mom adds an addition to her car bumper sticker. This family is really excited about adding a new member. Both the puppy and the family dog are Goldendoodles who come from the same breeder. The new puppy, William, is sweet and active. He relates differently to Mom and Dad. Look how he greets Dad.

This family figures out how to introduce their dogs to each other

After the family got home, the family is very tuned in to what the older dog, Charlee, may feel about the puppy. So Mom just lets the puppy stay inside a warm cozy wrap filled with stuffed animals, and let Charlee greet the puppy when he is ready. She makes sure to give lots of reassurance to Charlee that he hasn’t’ lost his place.

Dog and cat reversible jacket waterproof

After Charlee has sniffed the puppy enough, Mom lets William out to the backyard. Charlee was running around, and William joins him. This puppy takes no time at all to feel part of the family.

This family is very smart in the way they introduce the family dog to the new puppy. He has the freedom to roam around and sniff out the stranger. The newcomer is the one who is safely tucked into a very comfortable blanket with plush stuffed animals, with Mom sitting by, her arms around him.

Sensitive introduction like this goes a long way in establishing the environment of respect and inclusion in the family. Charlee seems to see William as a new playmate he gets to hang out with. Enjoy watching how this family welcomes puppy William home, and how they introduce William to older dog Charlee.

The family in this video is choosing their Goldendoodle puppy. What a smart way to decide on which puppy to bring home! They are spending time with several puppies first, then narrow down their choices. They spend some more time with those, then make their decision. The family members get to interact with each puppy individually to see if there’s chemistry there. And at last one meets all the criteria with every family member. Matching temperaments, energy level, requirements of the dog with family members is an ideal thing to do before deciding on the right dog for your family.

How to choose the right dog for your family

GREENIES Pill Pockets Treats for Dogs Mask Smell And Taste Of Medicine

Cesar’s Way has an excellent article on how to choose the right dog for your family. A surprising first question in that article is: Are we the right human for the dog? I like this approach. It’s not just about what’s good for the family, but also if this fits the needs of the dog.

If we have children, look for a dog that’s kid friendly. AND, our children will also need to be dog friendly. There are extra steps to teach our children to train the dog and to respect the dog’s space.

Is there another dog in our home already? If so, would the temperament of the new dog harmonize with the family dog? Are we away from home a long time? There are breeds who do not like to be alone for extended period of time. If we live in an apartment, does the dog need more space to run around? Do we have the commitment to take a dog for a walk when the weather is cold outside? And there is vets, grooming, pet food, etc. You can read more about this check list here. Watch how this family spend time with different puppies before choosing one that’s right for them.

The Goldendoodle puppy in this video is Bailee. She is 10-weeks-old at this filming. What a quiet dog she is. From the way her Mom patiently helps her with the ice cube, you can tell this is one well-loved puppy. Even though she is “eating” her ice cube, she is fine with Mom helping her hold the ice cube in place for her. What a sweet natured dog Bailee is. Goldendoodles is a cross between Golden Retriever and Poodle. They don’t know the word “stranger” according to Pet Wave. Everybody is their friend. They are cheerful, gentle, affectionate, trustworthy, and make a great companion for individuals with disability.

What are Goldendoodles like?

Goldendoodles are highly trainable. If they are properly socialized, Goldendoodles get along well with children and other companion animals. Because they do not have a strong prey drive, they’d be fine with cats and smaller dogs. Still, it is a good idea to do a proper introduction if they are to live with a cat and another dog.

Fence Bubble Window For Pets

Goldendoodles thrive on our attention and love, and they don’t like to be left alone for long periods of time. Otherwise they can get into some mischief. They are active and energetic. It’s nice to have a yard for them to run around. If you don’t have a yard, take them for a long walk everyday, so they can stretch their legs and run around.

They are drawn to water, so swimming is also a good activity for them. Keep them active physically for several hours a day, and you’ll have a physically and mentally fit Goldendoodle on your hand. They are smart and very willing to learn. Be sure to use positive enforcement and gentleness with them. You can learn more about Goldendoodles here. Enjoy watching Bailee the Goldendoodle puppy in her earlier days.

This is a video of Boomer, the Goldendoodle puppy coming home. Watch the little boy in the car. Observe his body language before he interacted with Boomer. After he holds Boomer in his arms, he looks like a different boy from the beginning of the video. He is caring for a puppy. He feels pride in taking care of someone little. Just look at the joy on each person’s face that evening as Boomer goes around to spend time with each member of the family. At least for the boy who carries Boomer to his car for the ride home, his life will probably never be the same. The way he looks after Boomer during the car ride shows he is practicing the art of nurturing. Sarah Long writes in She Knows about how growing up with a pet contributes to the development of a child. Not just as a companion or a playmate, but in a child’s social, physical, emotional, and cognitive development as well.

How dogs benefit children’s development

A 2010 study in England shows that a child with a dog exercises 11 more minutes a day than one who does not have a dog. The American Academy of Pediatrics did a study in 2012 that shows children with early contact with dogs and cats are healthier. They have fewer ear infections, fewer respiratory infections, and need a shorter treatment of antibiotics than children without pets. Children are more likely to interact with someone who has a dog. This helps the child who is not as outgoing to make friends. Children facing some sort of difficulty can often confide in their pet easier than in an adult. A dog does not judge. They love without any condition. That’s why children with reading difficulties improve their skills when they read to a dog. The dog does not care if they make mistakes. This feeling of unconditional acceptance helps children to increase confidence. And also, caring for a dog helps a child build empathy. You can read more about the topic here.
