This video shows Papillon puppy Mia already learning tricks at 8 weeks old. More precisely, 8 weeks and 4 days old. It has only been 4 days since she’s learned these tricks and the word “chicken.” Not even 9 weeks, and Mia has already mastered “down, spin, jump.” Can’t wait to see what this smart one will do in another month.

The Papillon is one of the oldest of the Toy Spaniels. They originally came from France, and were often depicted lying in the laps of Spanish and French noble women. Papillon is also called the Butterfly dog because their ears look like a butterfly. They are light and dainty. Their gait is quick, graceful, and easy. Ty The Dog Guy shares some insights on the temperament and characteristics of the Papillon.

What are Papillons like?

Papillon has long and silky hair. They have no undercoat, which means they can get cold easily. This is one dog that needs a jacket or a sweater in the winter. Please be sure to keep them warm.

The Papillon is lively, intelligent, and friendly. They are usually not shy or aggressive. They can be energetic and playful, and they can also be calm and gentle. Papillon loves to cuddle. They may look small and dainty, but they are tougher than they look. They love human companionship.

They are highly trainable. And unless they sense danger, they don’t bark a lot. It may take longer to house train a Papillon puppy. They love to do tricks and follow your commands, that’s why they are so easy to train. You can also socialize them to get along with other pets in your family, including your cat. Papillon will be happy living in an apartment or out in the country. Although they love playing outdoors, they can just as easily get their exercises indoor.

The future Mom is getting acquainted with this Papillon puppy while waiting for him to be old enough to come home with her. His name is Deeps. In about 5 weeks, he’ll be 12-weeks-old. What a great idea to visit the puppy weeks before to become acquainted and start the bonding process.

By the time Deeps go to his new home, he’ll already know one person. The transition will be so much easier. Great strategy! Deeps’ future mom is going to train him based on the practice of Positive Training (also called Clicker Training,) and has hopes that Deeps can learn anything using this approach. She plans to show Deeps learning through this method in her future videos.

What are Papillons like?

Papillon’s ears look like butterfly wings, so sometimes they are called Butterfly dog, according to Dog Breed Info. When full grown, Papillons weigh no more than 9 or 10 pounds. They are friendly, smart, lively, playful, affectionate. And they love to exercise outdoors. Generally, they are easy to train, but housebreaking takes more patience on your part.

Dog and cat reversible jacket waterproof

Because of their size, they seem like apartment dogs. While they are not yappers, they do get protective about their homes, and would bark at noises around them. So if you live in a noise-restricted building, this may not be a good choice for you.

Papillons need to walk everyday. If there’s an open area that is fenced in, they would love to romp around in that. You need to brush the Papillon everyday. Their hair does not mat, so brushing would be easy. This is usually a clean dog and they don’t have an odor. Do clean their teeth on a regular basis because they tend to build up tartar. You can read more about Papillons here. Enjoy watching Deeps’ Mom play with him before he goes home with her.
