What a lovely face! And those ears! The puppy in this video looks more like a teddy bear than a dog. But it IS a dog. At the end of the video, watch how far back he pulls his ears.

Actually teddy bear dogs have only been around since the late 1990’s, according to Mini Teddy Bear Puppies. They started out being bred to be therapy dogs and for children with disabilities. Well, for one thing, look at that face?! Who wouldn’t go “aawwwww” when they see a face like this? No one would be intimidated. Plus they have a mild temperament. That’s essential for being therapy dogs because lots of people will be petting them, both friends and strangers.

What are Teddy Bear dogs like?

They do not often bark unless they sense danger. So if you are looking for someone who talks back, this is not the dog. Try a French Bulldog.

Pet Drinking Fountain

Teddy bear dogs are loyal. They love physical contact, so they may take a nap on your lap or by your feet. According to Mini Teddy Bear Puppies, the term “teddy bear” is not referring to a specific breed, but most commonly refers to a cross between Bichon Frise and Shih Tzu. Since there are more hybrids now, the term can include Toy Poodle, Shih Tzu, Bichon Frise, Yorkies, among others.

They are usually between 11 to 16 pounds when full grown, but can weigh as much as 20 pounds. They might be easier on dog lovers who have allergies. Still, if you do have allergies and are getting this dog for that reason, it’s a good idea to spend some time around them to make sure you are not allergic to them before you decide to bring one home. You can read more about teddy bear dogs here. Enjoy watching this teddy bear dog wiggle his ears at the end of the video.

Sometimes, art is lost on the audience. The dog in this video has no idea how good the bird’s voice is when he gets a serenade from a Cockatiel during his lunch time.

Even though the bird sings wonderfully, it seems the dog doesn’t really appreciate his friend’s performance. He did not even acknowledge the entertainer. He walks away after his meal, and lets his friend serenade to himself. The artist does not mind. He sings because he loves to, not because of his audience’s response. This dog and bird obviously get along, but do all dogs and birds live in peace like this?

How to train a dog if you have a pet bird

According to Linda Berg on Birdsnways, if we do decide to have both a dog and a bird in our home, it is utmost important to train our dogs in two commands, even before they learn the command to sit. Those two commands are “leave it” and “out”.

Pet Drinking Fountain

Train your dogs to interpret “leave it” as “don’t touch it, don’t even look at it” and to interpret “out” as “spit out whatever you have in your mouth right now.” Because the writer of the article has done this training well with her dogs, a pet’s life was saved.

This speaks to the importance of training our dogs when there are unique circumstances in the household. Dogs that are hunting dogs or have strong prey instincts are probably best not matched with a pet bird. Not that dogs will kill them, it’s the movement that interest the dogs. It’s something to chase after. So if you already have a pet bird and decide that you would really love to adopt a dog, be sure to do your training with the dog immediately. You can read more about this topic here. Enjoy listening to this Cockatiel serenade to his dog friend during lunch time.

The Tamaskan Husky puppy in this video actually chooses her own shelter kitten. It’s a lovely story. The Tamaskan’s name is Raven. Her Mom’s name is Christina, who has always wanted a dog and cat to grow up together, according to Julija Televiciute on Bored Panda.

What are Tamaskan Huskies like?

This very wise woman wants to make sure that her dog and cat would get along well together, so she took a brilliant step. Raven was just a puppy, and had been with Christina for only a month. Since this is a lifetime commitment, Christina wants to make sure that Raven and the cat they’ll be adopting get along very well. So she took Raven to a shelter, and let Raven pick out her own kitten. Christina knows she cannot pick out a best friend for her dog, so she presents Raven with 4 kittens.

Pet Drinking Fountain

One of them took to Raven immediately. There was an instant click between the two. So that same day, this kitten—Woodhouse—goes to her new home with her new best friend. The two spend a lot of time hanging out together. In the video, you see the even celebrating birthdays with birthday hats together. And they sleep side by side.

Tamaskan Husky puppy is a fairly new breed (since the 1980’s), according to Pet Guide, with influence from the Siberian Husky, Alaskan Malamute, and German Shepherd. Tamaskan is very gentle, and has a wolf-like look. They are social, like to be around people, and generally get along with children. They form strong bond with their family. Tamaskans are highly intelligent and active, and needs a lot of exercise. You can read about this breed here. Enjoy watching this wonderful story of how Raven the Tamaskan Husky picks out her own kitten from the shelter.

The Airedale Terrier puppies in this video are curious about the play equipment their parents are building for them. One is already figuring out how to climb on those equipment. Another is simply biting it just because it’s the right size for his mouth. If you are thinking about getting an Airedale Terrier, there are some things to know about this breed.

They need a lot of exercise because they were bred originally for active work. This means a long walk everyday, according to Dog Breed Info. They like to play with a ball or swim or retrieve something for you. If they don’t get enough exercise or attention, they get bored and get themselves into trouble. The exercise requirement becomes less after the first 2 years. But it can be a lot of work for the owner the first two years.

Some characteristics of Airedale Terrier

The Airedale is not meant to live in apartments. They are active indoor. So you’ll need at least an average-sized yard for them. Even though they are fine with children if they get early exposure, they might play a bit too rough for the very young children.

Pet Drinking Fountain

When they are puppies, Airedale’s are playful and fun-loving. This is a hunting dog, which means if you are taking him for a walk, he needs to be on a leash. Otherwise when he sees a chipmunk, off he goes.

They are very intelligent, so they would do well with advanced obedience training. Airedale’s are responsive, and will know quickly what you want of him. Just keep the training interesting, or he might get bored. They can do well in defense dog trials. They are usually okay with house cats and other animals. It is possible that some of them try to dominate other dogs. This depends on the individual dog, and also depends on how the human treats the dog. You can learn more about the Airedale Terriers here.
