The Shichon in this video is mastering his tricks. His name is Fluffy. What an appropriate name for his hair. His Mom is wise to utilize his intelligence by teaching him tricks. Shichons are intelligent and do very well with training, taking after their parents–a Shih Tzu and a Bichon Frise.

What are Shichons like?

They have the small size of a Shih Tzu and the friendly temperament of a Bichon Frise, according to Pet Guide. It is possible for a Shichon to look more like one of his parents than the other, and still be called a Shichon. This is the art of breeding.

Because the Shichon is a small breed dog, select dog food that is formulated specifically for small dogs. They meet the high energy level of small breeds. Possibly because it’s hard not to give treats to these adorable faces, small breed dogs have the potential toward obesity. So, please do not overfeed these adorable pups, no matter how irresistible they are.

Rachael Ray dog treats

Even though Shichon are very trainable, when it comes to housebreaking, they may need more time. Start young, be patient, be gentle, and be consistent. Reward him for the behavior you want, and he’ll be happy to please you.

Socializing him as a puppy is also important. Expose him to a variety of people, smells, sights, so he grows up to be comfortable around strangers and other dogs. Actually, Shichon tend to get along with other dogs and family pets. They adore their family and bond closely with them.

These friendly and affectionate ones are good with kids, although it’s a good idea to match them with older children than younger ones because it’s important for them to be around children who know how to handle them properly. You can read more about Shichon here.

Enjoy watching Fluffy master the tricks his Mom is practicing with him.

This is a video of Golden Retrievers having fun. One of the Retrievers is swinging ever so softly in a hammock. A puppy is carrying her stuffed animal in her mouth and walking around. This is actually very common in Retrievers because they are so named because they “retrieve” on hunting trips. So carrying something softly in their mouth may be remnant of this trait, even if they aren’t hunting.

What are Retrievers like?

In a couple of clips, the Retrievers are craving the affection of their humans. In fact, one of them does not want to share that affection with another dog. Golden Retrievers are among the most popular dog breeds in the U.S. They are good at what they do, whether it’s as guide dogs, as hunting assistant, search and rescue, or your companion. They are good at it. And they are strong. Golden Retrievers are patient and gentle with children. They are loving and energetic—perfect companion for children.

Rachael Ray dog treats

Their devotion makes them a great family dog. They are well-mannered and easy to train, according to Dog Breed Info. They get along with everyone, including other dogs, so they are not much of a guard dog. But they can make a good watchdog because they will let you know if they see a stranger coming.

Exercise needs of Golden Retrievers

Golden Retrievers can adapt to living in any situation. If your Goldie stays indoor with you a lot, make sure she gets plenty of exercise, for both her physical and mental well-being. She needs a long walk everyday, or run beside you while you are bicycling. If she does not get her physical and mental exercise, she can get high-strung and a bit too exuberant. Goldies enjoy your companionship, and they love to please you. So if you are into competition, they’ll probably win a few trophies. You can read more about Golden Retrievers here.

Don’t these dogs sound almost human? Some of them are imitating “Hello,” “Mama,” “I love you.” A few a more or less imitating the pitch and intonation and nowhere near the syllables. But a few a exceptionally clear. Some of the breeds are already inclined to be more vocal, but some of the dogs in the video are not typically vocal in terms of carrying on a “dialogue” like French Bulldogs are likely to do. So how do these owners teach their dogs to speak like human?

How to teach our dogs to say “hello”

I was curious, so I did some research. Different articles and comments offer a variety of strategies, but I found one woman’s approach in particular to be the easiest to use.

An article in Pet Helpful shares that the author’s dog often howls when sirens pass by. Sometimes she howls along with her dog for fun. And one day, she noticed that her dog, Mukha, mimics her voice as well as her mouth movement. When the author uses a low, quiet howl, Mukha copied her. So she decided to use Mukha’s interest in imitating her to teach her to “speak.”

Rachael Ray dog treats

The author suggests that for those of us who want to teach our dogs to say words, start by getting into a back and forth dialogue with our dog. Get them to play with us with their voice. (Be sure you won’t regret this later. ) Give your dog some time to get into a howling sound.

When he’s taking a breath or getting ready to do the next howl, squeeze in “I love you” or “hello” or whatever words you want to teach. And say those words in a howling voice. It’s like helping them transition from howling (which is natural to them) to vocalizing like we do.

If your pup is watching you, he may be picking up on the pitch and eventually mimic you. You can try it and see if your dog can do what the dogs do in this video. Some of the dogs in this video are really making an effort to play with their humans. Enjoy the video!
