Philippe, the Director of Operations for Jean-Georges, begins the video by welcoming Marnie and Ripley to the restaurant. Then he personally took the order to the kitchen, where famous Jean-Georges Vongerichten, a Michelin Star chef, prepare this special meal for our famous rescue dogs.  Jean-Georges began his career preparing food for dogs in France.  Today he is preparing a  healthy and dog-friendly meal for our celebrities.  He taste tested the food first before serving it to his guests.

A Gourmet Meal for Marnie the Rescue Dog and Friend

First course:  Roasted bone marrow with salmon roe and brioche croutons. It looks like Marnie and Ripley are more into the marrow than the salmon roe.  Second course:  Orecchiette and meatballs with fresh ricotta.  Both dogs like this dish.  Marnie’s long tongue is an advantage here, lapping up the sauce.  She is so focused even her ear is on the plate.

Then a glass of water was offered to these guests to cleanse their palette before dessert is served.  Ripley lends a helping tongue to finish Marnie’s leftover.

Third course: Peanut butter ice cream sundae.  Someone even helps Marnie with making the dessert more bite-sized for her.  After dessert, Chef Jean-Georges personally makes an appearance to check how his guests enjoy the meal he prepared for them.  And he pulls them both in for a hug.

At the end of the video, there’s a message that encourages audience to adopt and provide a loving home for dogs who are rescued and now waiting to enjoy warm family life.  I also delight in watching 2 dogs who once were rescued and lived in shelters, now enjoying a gourmet meal prepared by a renown chef.   They totally deserve royal treatment!

What are Pugs like?

According to Vetstreet, Pugs are good with children, other dogs, and cats.  He is happiest when he’s being part of the family.  They would enjoy going to the office with you.  And your co-workers’ day would be the better for it.  Do know that Pugs excel in begging?   With those irresistible pleading eyes, it takes will power to not keep giving them treats.  But if you can tell yourself that you are loving your Pug by not overfeeding him because that can lead to obesity, you might have an easier time with those pleading eyes.

Your pug is very much a people person.  He may follow you from room to room.  It is a good idea to help him get used to the idea of being alone so he doesn’t get overly anxious if you do have to leave him behind from time to time.  Of course, start small.  Just a few minutes at first, then increase that time gradually as they feel more comfortable with you out of the house.

And while he does need some exercise to stay fit and mentally challenged, he can’t handle a lot of exercise.  They can overheat easily.  Even though Pugs are considered Toy dogs, they are among the largest of the Toy breeds.  This is an advantage if you have children who may rough house with them.  Pugs can actually take it better than other Toy breeds.  Still, it is good to show children how to properly approach and handle dogs so they are respectful of a dog’s space.  You can read more about this breed here.  Enjoy watching these adorable Pug puppies explore their world.

Not a puppy, not a kitten–whom we would expect to adore each other naturally, but a grown cat and dog.  Her friend is just not ready to get up, so she lovingly and tenderly tries to get his attention.   Alas, however much effort she makes, her friend is so sound asleep that her attempts have absolutely no effect on him.  In the end, she gives up and curls up next to her dear friend.

How to introduce a dog to the family cat

This is the best case scenario for a dog and cat living under the same roof.   If you have a cat, and are thinking of bringing home a dog, here are some ideas that might make the introduction and adjustment period easier for everyone in the family, especially the feline and the canine.

Since your cat has been with you first, help her adjust to the presence of the dog by creating a separate space for the dog at the beginning.   A room with a gate in between would work well.  This gives the opportunity for the two of them to get used to the scent of the other, grow accustomed to the presence of the other.

After the comfort is established, you can introduced a meeting time for them, always supervised by you.   Have these meetings extended a little each time.  Have your dog on a leash, just in case he decides to chase after the cat.   And create “escape route” for your cat in case your dog somehow gets free from his area.  If your cat likes to jump up onto someplace high, create some space there that’s easily accessible for her.  Or some other escape route that your dog cannot get to.  These are just precautions.  After they have adjusted to being in the same space.
