Cockapoo is a cross between Poodles and Cocker Spaniels. The woman in the following video goes into why this is the dog that she prefers. For those who have allergies, both the video and the content in this article will be helpful in determining if the Cockapoo is right for you. I want to thank my guest writer, Mike from CockapooHQ, for sharing reasons to own a Cockapoo.
Why get a cockapoo
Less Likely To Trigger Allergies
Cockapoos are a crossbreed of poodles and cocker spaniels and as such are not as likely to cause allergies as other dogs, thanks to the poodle side of the breeding. While they are often stated as being hypoallergenic, this is not completely true as no dog breed is completely hypo-allergenic. That being said, if you suffer from allergies or someone in your household does, and dogs especially trigger them; Cockapoos ware a wise choice.
They Are Not As Smelly As Other Dogs
In comparison to many other dog breeds that are known for their pungent scents, Cockapoos don’t suffer from this downside as much. This doesn’t mean they won’t ever smell though. For instance, if your Cockapoo rolls around in the mud or something else, they will smell. They just don’t have a natural odor problem.
Great Pet For Big City Living
As a general rule, Cockapoos are never bigger than cocker spaniels, though their size is obviously determined by the size of their parents. Combine the size with their laid-back attitude and you will find that they are just as at home in the city as they are in the countryside.
Friendly
Much like cocker spaniels, Cockapoos are happy and friendly dogs, whether spending time with other dogs and animals, or humans. One downside though is you need to work hard to train them not to love on and, worst still, jump on people as soon as they meet them. Some visitors or strangers you meet may not like being attacked by an incredibly cute ball of hyperactivity and fur. In another post, Mike will continue to share more reasons to own a Cockapoo.
