If you’ve ever wanted to make your own dog treats because you KNOW what goes into the food and it’s healthy for your dog, but have been feeling a bit intimidated, fear no more.

I just finished reading recipes compiled by Jen Gabbard in Puppy Leaks.  The recipes range from needing only 2 ingredient to maximum of 5 ingredients.  Jen believes she is a novice cook for her family, but her dog considers her to be the best chef in the world.  She compiled recipe after recipe of simple ingredients, with a link to the original source of each recipe for baking instruction.

I hope this helps you to feel more confident about your intro to baking for your doggie friend.

Here’s an excerpt from Jen’s article:

Easy DIY Dog Treats

This recipe is extremely simple. If your dog does fine with wheat and milk I’d recommend trying this out if it’s your first time baking dog treats. For this simple recipe you’ll need two cups of whole wheat flour, one cup of peanut butter, one cup of skim milk, and a tablespoon of baking powder.

Four ingredients, 15-20 minute bake time.

Diabetic Dog Treats Recipe

When you’ve got a diabetic dog it can be hard to find dog treat recipes. This one is super easy to prepare takes only 15 minutes to cook. You’ll need a half cup of whole wheat flour (watch for gluten levels), two eggs, and one a half pounds of beef liver cut into small pieces.

Three ingredients, 15 minute bake time.

You can get the step-by-step recipes here.
