The French Bulldog puppies in this video are talking, or attempting to, and waving their paw–that most adorable gesture that puppies make intended to melt our heart. This is a breed that will bring you lots of laughter. They can be clownish. And just listen to their voice! They are livelier than they might look.
Puppies make it their job to chase balls. The adults also can clown around, perhaps with more dignity, and they can be professional couch potatoes. According to Michele Welton on Your Pure Bred Puppy, French Bulldogs can do well in apartments. They don’t need that much exercise, and they don’t bark much except to announce visitors. And many of them are friendly with everyone. Others will be politely reserved in the least. If you have a swimming pool at home, you might consider another breed. Frenchies cannot swim. They can drown.
Characteristics of a French Bulldog
If you are thinking about a French Bulldog, make sure you can accept several characteristics about him. He snorts, he snores, and is gassy. These come with the territory of having a short face.
Because of his short snout, his respiratory system is somewhat compromised. That means it really helps if you don’t smoke around him, don’t use any chemical in your cleaning products, keep him away from pollens, and away from freshly mowed grass.
Michele recommends that you find a vet that is experienced with short-snout dogs. If they need surgery, they need the most modern anesthetics, and you need to insist on a heart and blood pressure monitor. Many vets are not careful enough when anesthesizing short-snout dogs. Another caretaking step is to wash and dry the folds of his face after every meal. Yes, this is a lot of extra steps. And remember they snore. If you are able to go the extra mile to have this dog, consider adopting one from a rescue organization. The adults have already formed their personality, so you know who you are getting. A puppy is in the process of developing. There’s a lot more work involved when you get a puppy. You can read more about French Bulldogs here. Enjoy listening to these French Bulldogs talk.
