The Golden Retriever in this video wants the attention to keep coming.  His owner wonders what happens if he stops petting his dog.  Well, his Golden shows him!   And if you have a Goldie yourself, you know they don’t hesitate to let you know with their paws what they want.  Golden Retriever is among the most popular breeds in the U.S.  A friend who volunteers at a shelter says that Golden Retrievers never remain in a shelter for long.  There is a long waiting list for Golden Retrievers at her shelter.  And there is a good reason for this.

What are Golden Retrievers like?

Not only are they great family dogs, they are wonderful working dogs too. They can be service dog, they can sniff out drugs, they are therapy dogs, they also help to retrieve for hunters.  On top of all these versatile abilities, they are also natural athletes.

According to Dog Time, Golden Retrievers are affectionate with family, very kid friendly, dog friendly, and friendly toward strangers. They are probably not much of a guard dog.  They may greet a burglar. 🙂  Golden Retrievers like to be around their human family, so they need to live indoor.  However, given that they are a retriever breed, they need some serious physical activities. You can exercise them pretty hard for 40 to 60 minutes a day, providing physical and mental stimulation.  Even though they are very good with kids, because of their size, and because they can get boisterous, it can be easy for them to accidentally knock over a little child.  They are very social, their philosophy around pets are “the more the better” so they can be trained to hang around your other family pets.  You can read more about Golden Retrievers here.  Enjoy watching this Golden Retriever clearly letting his Dad know what he likes from him.
