Have you ever heard dog owners say they can’t have nice furniture because their dog will destroy it?  Maybe you’re one of them?

I finished reading an article by Jen Gabbard on Puppy Leaks on this very topic.  How to puppy proof your furniture.  Actually, not just puppy proof.  Mature dogs drool and have other ways of offending your furniture too.  🙂

Jen offers several tips.  I’ll just go over 3 of them here.  You can read the rest at your leisure.

  • The most cost effective way is probably to cover your furniture with washable blankets and throws
  • Avoid bare wood furniture (for teeth that love to chew)
  • Invest in a nice doggie bed so it’s as comfy to your dog as your couch

Here’s an excerpt from the article:

Avoid the frustration of coming home to chewed up chair legs if you’ve got a puppy or destructive chewer. Teaching a dog not to chew is easier said than done, especially if they’re doing it while you’re away. There are products on the market made to repel your dog from chewing. You spray it on your table legs and it will keep your dog from gnawing them…

…Not only does chewing on wood destroy your furniture, but it’s also hazardous to your dog.
