The Chihuahua in this video loves snuggling with Mom.  She is a long-haired Chihuahua.  They have a medium length coat that feels soft and fine.  Under this soft coat is a down-like undercoat.

The Chihuahua is an ancient breed, a descendent of the Techichi dogs of the Toltecs of Mexico, and maybe also a descendent of the Mayan dogs from South America, according to All Small Dog Breeds. If you have a Chihuahua, you probably already know that this is a sweet-natured, loving, and loyal dog with her own family.  She needs lots of attention, lots of affection, and lots of petting.  She tends to become attached to one member of the family, and follows that person around everywhere.  If you pay attention to another person or another pet, she might get jealous.

Characteristics of a Chihuahua

Chihuahua loves lying on your lap to be close to you.  And she loves getting under blankets, any blanket, including the one on your bed, which means you have to watch where you lie.  You can’t flop down on your bed anymore with a Chihuahua around.  Because of her small size, take care to not let your Chihuahua jump down from any furniture that’s high.  That could potentially break a bone.

You’ve probably already found out that she is not the most friendly person around strangers.  That’s why she is such a great watchdog.  Anyone who is on her turf, she will be quick to alert you and bark.

Even though she doesn’t need a lot of exercise, she does enjoy going outside and explore.  Take her for short walks.  Be sure to have a leash on her because she will challenge big dogs many times her size.  She is not friendly with dogs she does not know.  But if she grows up with another dog since she is a puppy, she would get along just fine, especially if it’s another Chihuahua.  You can read more about this loyal friend here.
