This video shows Chumpie the Schnauzer in his new home.  Actually he is a Miniature Schnauzer.  The video begins with Chumpie’s parents picking him when he was just a few weeks old.  His parents got everything prepared for him.  His new bed, toys, a fenced yard for him to run around.

They introduced him to the house section by section.  Mom even starts easing the introduction to the bathing sink by putting a treat there.   Chumpie has the cutest trot, almost like a mountain goat.  And when he can’t get up on the couch, he voices the cutest objection.  At the end of the video, his parents want to encourage him to try coming up the stairs.  Chumpie wasn’t ready for that.  His dad made the mistake of saying Don’t be a quitter.  Chumpie did not like the accusation and left the room.  A wonderfully spirited puppy!

Traits of a Miniature Schnauzer

Miniature Schnauzer is a good match for a family that is active.  They love running outside and playing with you.  And if you are a first time dog owner, this is also a good choice, according to Pet Wave.  However, they won’t be a good match for families with young children who don’t know how to handle dogs yet.  They are fine with older children.

Miniature Schnauzers are very trainable because of their intelligence.  This is an independent dog who does not like to be told what to do.  They like to be in charge.  It is good to start training this puppy as early as possible.  Use a calm and confident voice when you train them.  Use positive reinforcement such as food because they are motivated by food.  Keep the training short.  Vary the activities so they don’t get bored.   You can read more about Miniature Schnauzers here.
