The Old English Sheepdog in this video is coming home from the airport.  His name is Wallace. His parents have been eagerly awaiting this special day.  He certainly adapts to his new family quickly. In no time at all, he is already playing with Dad.  The Old English Sheepdog is a gentle person, and he is an independent thinker with a strong herding instinct, according to Vetstreet.  

Characteristics of an Old English Sheepdog

Old English Sheepdog loves people and loves being with his family.   He can be a child’s beset friend, except that he likes looking after the kids so much that there is a chance he’ll jump the fence just to follow the child to school.   He does have a loud bark, so that means he’ll make a good watch dog.   Socialize the puppy early and frequently to prevent him from becoming overly suspicious of anything new.

If you are getting your puppy from a breeder, make sure the puppies live in a home environment, and are exposed to a variety of sounds, sights, and people, before the pup comes home to you. And after the puppy arrives his new home, continue the socialization by introducing him to friends and neighbors.   But first check with your vet to make sure that the puppy has the vaccinations he needs to protect himself.  Then take him to dog friendly business.  Enroll him in puppy kindergarten class.
