What are Toy Poodles like

According to Michele Welton on Your Pure Bred Puppy, they are probably the most hypoallergenic dog of all coated breeds.  If you are allergic to dogs and like the temperament and looks of a Toy Poodle, this might be a possible companion for you.   They are also athletes–well, the one that’s “square” built, meaning their height is about the same as their length.  These dogs have longer legs.   If you are someone who likes your dog to be in competition, a Toy Poodle will make you proud.  They can fly over, under, through the obstacles like no one can.

Toy Poodles are one of the most trainable dogs.  They are a “thinking” dog.   They learn fast, and respond eagerly to positive training methods.  Then again, wouldn’t we ALL prefer positive training?   It feels encouraging and uplifting.  Also, provide some mental stimulation for them.  It keeps them happy.  It can be playing hide and seek with them, or tell them to fetch a toy by name.  With the intelligence of the Poodle, be prepared to be amazed by how much their mind retains.  This is not a dog to just wants to sit in the backyard.   Most Poodles would make good watchdogs because they bark when someone is at the door.  Around strangers, they are reserved.  They would behave politely, but they are not aggressive.   However, there are some who don’t know the word “stranger.”  They love everyone!   You can read more about Toy Poodles here.
